Two 3rd place finished. You should bronze those hands!

Seriously, give the model a double high five!

I like it very much. Old hands in active work. Well composed, beautiful colors.

beautiful picture, lovely colour and detail, and sense of narrative.

I appreciate the scissors add context to the needlework, but they are a little distracting, and I wonder if the shot would have worked without them?

Excellent Title and what a great example of the creativity of these hands. Congratulations on your entry.

Thanks for the positive comments and constructive criticism. My Mom was pretty chuffed about being a model. I have to say that I really didn't know how to pose the shot, and had just as much difficulty trying to crop it. I realized afterwards that the scissors didn't help the situation because they weren't as in focus as they should have been, and the positioning made a tighter crop impossible.

A wonderful experienced hand quilt shot that I think could still be better. First I'd remove the scissors which add clutter to a clean image. All you need is the needle and thread to tell the story. The hand holding the needle looks like it is at rest, which is fine, but I would have shot that hand in a better resting pose. Maybe both hands like the subject's left hand, flat, with the needle and thread where the scissors are. Lastly, I'd try to avoid the blue angle in the top left corner.

the quilt compliments the picture and the scissors blend in to give size as well.
she is 92 years young may she continue to produce quilts of this quality

Great shot. Those are hands that tell a story of a long life of love and caring.

I love the hands. I am not convinced by the pose.
