I agree with Ysal and Mepo. Unfortunately it would fall to Bernie to make all of the additions, unless each Challenge Host can be given the authourity to do it.

Don't fret, MEPO - it's probably time that pair was thrown out.

Good question, Robert. In the original description, does the word "image" refer to the subject, or the entire photo. I will defer to Jomari on this one, as she created the theme.

The challenge description says "... affect the whole image, not just a small part of the image".

That would seem to me to rule out raindrops on a window, for example; unless the window is totally soaked, the separate drops don't affect everything. What do others think?

...And here's something shot through a clear glass bowl with an engraved pattern. Some parts of the image are affected, some aren't, though it's all being seen through the bowl. Does that count?

IMHO - it may be very difficult to get 100% of the image within the filter, depending on the type of filter one uses. For example, if one uses a wine or martini glass as a filter and desires the outline of the glass to be part of the image, I can imagine that the area surrounding the actual glass (approx 5-15%) will be outside the main image. This should not count against the entry so long as the majority of the image is ad hoc filtered. Please advise.

I see your point. How to deal with spaces between raindrops on the glass. I would like clarification too. Is it allowable to simply have raindrops scatter across the image from edge to edge?

I feel that the whole image needs to be affected for it to be considered filtered. I don't want to be laying down rules, but that filtered effect was what I had in mind.

I think you are right - maybe. It probably depends whether the raindrops substantially affect the scene. A very wet window can do marvellous things to a scene but an individual raindrop would probably work too, if you could do a close enough macro.

I think that would count. The 'filter' (glass bowl) has been present over the whole image. Although the effect is not consistent it seems to have had some effect on even the clearer parts.
Just say what is used in your notes. If something covers the entire scene but doesn't interact with the subject consistently, it's still a filter.

Jomari - thank you for all your clarification. I think I understand the intent of the theme better.
