elegant. Had to chuckle a bit...I don't see any ice. Sensation of cold is relative (tonight's low temp here forecast to be -18 deg F. Yikes!).

It's said that the BEST camera is the one you have with you, and in this case, evidently proven true again. Nicely done. Wonderful geometry here

This is overexposed and color balance is off a bit, but, both seem to enhance the mood: presumably a hot and colorful scene with this musician in the zone!

Usually I look things over here for a while before ranking. Did not need to in this case. Very touching and desperately sad shot - something that you captured at, well, the decisive moment. Really wonderful. Thanks.

Steve, I often take several looks at a work over time. In this case, I must say this portrait has grown considerably on me. It is fine work. Reminds me of a scene in Dr. Zhivago where Yevgraf is looking out over the workers from the labor camp office window.

Had I had a week to look over entries, I believe that I would have moved the placement of your work way up. Either way, nice work.

thanks all. jomari, you got it just right. Could have mentioned in the extra info section that this great old barn is soon destined to be demolished and surrounding region is slated to become a development of some sort. I have spent a fair amount of time in and around the structures still standing there. My shot was indeed intended to capture the passage of time and the associated impermanence.

The ultra-high contrast, rough and stark lines here and subject placement work very well here. Art.

Compelling self portrait. With the tight crop and the dark left side, feel like life is contracting. Add some blur, which works here, and I feel like life is a bit out of focus.

The popped vessel in your left eye really makes this shot for me. Is this a statement about city-living?

Nicely done. Very creative. While the filter helps, overdone a bit and obscures the camera. I'd like to have a clearer shot of the camera.

I like your shot better than the TV show! (just could not get into it). Great use of light, color, grain and subject placement to create an eerie kind of mysterious whole.

Interesting long exposure, in you of what I interpret as contemplative and inquisitive mood. Like it and the creative forces that lead to it. Know it's hard to be still for the 13 sec, so I might have cloned out the movement "shadow" of your shoulders.

Well composed, semi-classical lighting and a natural (good looking!) expression too. What's not to like? Good job. Might add that some might argue that a portrait mode orientation might be better, I like this outside the box approach and the extra darkness around you. However, I might not have centered myself and moved perhaps a bit to your right. LIttle off-center adds some interest IMO.
