Thanks for suggestions to correct the focus. I was shooting through glass and had no idea how to setup. I will use your suggestions next time.

Love this photo. You must be a male photographer as no female would ever call this 'blue'. It shouts purple!! sorry for the sexist generalization.

Mrsawyer. Thank you. This was taken at Heritage Farmstead (a museum near my home)which was celebrating the 125th anniversary. I was on a photo shoot with a group of photographers there at the request of the celebration organizers. This stove was in a separate building and was the only thing in the room. It screamed B/W at me. So to answer your question B/W was in my mind while shooting. The color shot is quite ordinary.

This was a rail along a pedestrian walk over a large pond. I tried to get a shot with the normal lines and the dragonfly face, but didn't have a boat. 😌

Lo, thanks.. No one else seemed to think these are big leaves. It would have helped if the composition included a small leaf for comparison but this was not possible because of the Hostas location.

Thanks for the comments. My model is very special.. Kind, compassionate and loving. Could be that I am prejudiced.

Thanks for all of your comments. mrsawyer, I still shoot animals. My granddaughters are the only humans that I regularly shoot.

mrsawyer.. No. I had both the fz1000 and the GH2 with me. Since I was sitting in a blind most of the time, I used the GH2 with the 100-300mm lens. (handheld, BTW). I have the 100-400mm on order. Hope I am able to hand hold it. We'll see. FZ1000 and FZ300 are my walking around cameras. TMI

The bird is a 'painted bunting'. This is a photo shot at Santa Clara Ranch in far south Texas from an underground blind about an hour before sunset. The bird is wet, hence the saturated colors.

Hey Mepo: That armadillo just won 1st place in wildlife at the Texas State Fair. Probably because most of them seen in Texas are roadkill. I managed to catch a live one.

Thanks to all. I was surprised by the comments about this 'creature' . They are common in Texas, but I will say that I have seen them ALIVE only twice in my 75 years, once on the golf course with her four babies and at Santa Clara Ranch. Unfortunately they are very often seen as 'roadkill'.. Just learned from Wikipedia that this is because they jump high in the air when startled and collide with underside of cars.

Thanks, Mepo. I think you are on to me. This was taken at Santa Clara Ranch in far South Texas. This was the second year that I spent some time there. BTW, the lizard in the main challenge was taken on the same trip. I have about 400 shots from this year. Not enough challenges that apply.

Thanks to all of you!!! I am a little surprised. This was so close to SOOC. I kept thinking that some of the art filters would improve it, but was trying to stay true to the original intent. IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A CHALLENGE WHERE EVERYTHING GOES AS FAR AS POST PROCESSING. (this is a selfish request since I have some SnapArt filters that do nice oils, etc that I can never use in competitions). Of course Jade would run away with such a challenge.

BTW this and my other entry were made with the new FZ1000. A photo like this could have been made with a point and shoot IMHO because of the technique.

Thanks, all. Mepo, the owl was in a tree. The green stuff is leaves that i was trying to focus thru.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I did not think of the noise until a couple of comments about it. Now I see it everytime I look.
