Post-Processing: Took a shot of the background before the riders arrived and applied motion blur to this. Took a second shot of the riders themselves, removed the background from this second shot and superimposed it on the first shot. Applied noise reduction, downsized and sharpened.       Extra Info: A group of riders turn onto the Champs-Élysées as they approach the finish line of the 2010 Tour de France

Aug 16, 2010		     This was my #1 - love it. imo I prefer the feet cropped off because it concentrates the photo on the riders and that is what the photo is about. I notice that many who complain about cropping are pretty handy with the chainsaw themselves LOL Jade chopped off the wings and the propellers from his plane shot :-)

Aug 16, 2010		     Thanks everyone for the comments. Much appreciated. Apologies to those who missed the feet :-) My wife and I arrived in Paris only a short time before the end of the race. We just happened to arrive the same day as the finish as we're really not big cycle fans. However since we were there, there was no way we were going to miss seeing at least a part of it. By the time we got to the finish area the crowd was four to five deep all around the course. This was shot through a crowd of people, between a large race bollard on the left and a TV truck on the right, and over a banner laden crowd control barrier. Unfortunately any larger criop would have included one or more of those distracting elements. I know. Excuses, excuses :-)

Aug 16, 2010		     Really nice action shot, could be easily on any sport magazine or newspaper! Also like it a lot because of the cycling and the Tour de France (I'm a great fan :-)
Top marks for your PP also - the two pics mixing is almost perfect and very hard to notice if you don't explain it!
(That puzzles me :-D I would say that masterwork is from Jade, but I also suspect the beautiful plane takeoff pic is from her... mmmm :-)
I hope this will rank high at the end, well done!!

Aug 15, 2010		     Capturing the racers as they head to the finish line is a terrific shot on its own, but adding the blurred background really takes it up a notch! I love the colours and the movement.

Aug 13, 2010		     Very impressive post processing work combining the two images to enhance the motion. It is scary that they ride so close. I can feel the speed and tension of the race in this image. Good work.

Aug 12, 2010		     Not an easy capture, but outstanding in the moment and in the group framed by your lens. My only negative is the sliced off wheels and feet (I hate photo amputations) both of which I feel need to be in the image. Still, the lighting colour, quality, and technical merit in the execution rank this in my top 5. As good as your pan is, I detect a slight element of motion blur.
