Extra Info: I've used this coffee pot and metal cup for many years. Memories of lakes and rivers and campgrounds flowed as I created this nostalgic image.

I never throw away eggshells. They are great for my compost and actually necessary for my vermiculture (I raise my own earthworms for my garden). The earth worms need the calcium from the eggshells to reproduce. I must admit I do a great job raising worms and the eggshells are key.
Now I've learned another use for eggshells. Thanks for the education!

Thanks again for the uplifting words. We'll see how long my beginner's luck holds out .

Mepo: Your clever humor makes me laugh ! Thanks :D

This was my #2. I'm glad you didn't need my vote for a top rank.
Congratulations!

Congrats on your 4th place - well done.

LaRee. For a smooth cuppa, the calcium in the shells takes away the bitter taste and seems to help the loose grounds stay in the pot. It is also rumored to take away dizziness so that your horizons stay level but as you can see that didn't work for piman LOL LOL

p.s. You can also crush the egg shells and put them around plant in your garden. It gives snails and slugs a hard time and adds some Ca to the soil.

You did a beautiful job mimicking a box cam and that gave brought the needed punch. I sense we have a new top shooter in the group.

LOL! I grasped your dilema because I've been there plenty of times myself. ;-)
Now, tell me about the eggshells in coffee? Never heard of that practice. Is it to stretch the coffee further?

Thanks for your votes and for taking the time to comment, your input is valuable to me.

It's wonderful that you could get past my reckless disregard for the horizon and enjoy the intent of the image.

mrsawyer: You're right about having to sacrifice the background. Even a diffused flash obliterated the look I was going for. I like to think of it as mimicking the image that would have been created by a box camera back in the day.

LaRee : You grasped my dilema with the horizon exactly.

Mepo : I still put egg shells in with the coffee grounds.

I love the nostalgic look of this photo. The inclusion of the flame really adds to the composition. It looks like you made a trade off to get the details you wanted in the foreground by overexposing the sky. The top of the coffee pot also suffered overexposure which makes it blend in with the sky unfortunately. In my favs though.

Very cool finding. I love the atmosphere. Save a cup for me...

Perhaps i don't like too much the composition but i love the mood of the scene...It reminds me of a person who worked hard...Don't know if it's your case...But a cup of coffee warms up the hearts during a cold winter day...

I LOVE this! There are three images in main that I could put in first place, this being one of them. Tilted horizons normally drive me batty but here it doesn't bother me at all. Good thing too because I'm afraid if you tried to straighten the horizon you'd lose the great composition you have. Nice pp on this too.

Super creation - certainly brings back good memories for me too. I couldn't afford the fancy stove nor a percolator - just threw the coffee into a saucepan with some egg shells. I'm sure the result was just like yours - I can smell it from here. The background tilt is distracting imo but I love the photo.

The off angle horizon bothers me a bit but there is buckets of atmosphere which rescues that for me here. TT
