  #143 Fill the Frame (Revisited)
Entry 12 of 24

She Loves Dandelions       ©2014 Franz07
Panasonic DMC-LX3       12th place, 93 points
1/1600s, f2.8, ISO 100, 60mm, Aperture Priority, Center Weighted Average, flash

Post-Processing: Untouched and straight out of the cam.
Only downsized
Extra Info: OK... neither the girl nor the dandelion do really fill the frame - but them both together, the act does, imho.
...and I immediately fell in love with this picture ;-)

Franz! You're back! Hello my friend! Beauty girl and so nice to see your comments again! (I knew this was yours!)

Very nice pose, but I would have liked to have seen her eye better.

Maybe she likes dandelions but I think she prefers ice cream even in black and white :-) I think the hair is a problem here as it forms a sharp visual barrier between the girl and the dandelion which negates any interaction between them. If I clone out the hair this becomes a better shot. So good to see you back!

I agree - I love the intensity of the gaze, and the feeling that the dandelion is just a moment away from disintegrating.

I am glad you kept it like it is, a beautiful image and among my tt.

Sweet image - though I would personally have liked the frame to include more of the girl's face. Matter of taste.

Franz? This well composed and well lit shot suffers IMHO of having too much a staged look. Technically, I don't think you could have done better with the subject and in challenging lighting (love that 1/1600s at f2.8). I think a clean background would have taken this to a different level. As it is the background suggests candid and the foreground suggests studio.

ysal, dave and fc, thanks a lot!
bryanshoots, You're right, but she was breathing in this millisecond, taking a deep breath. The next second the dandelion was gone...
Jussi, ...both of them...

the frame is filled by the main subject with the addition of the dandelion as the balance.
the background is well out of focus
its also one on my favourites

Nice photo, but is the subject the girl or the flower?

Nice Framing and love the intense look on her face as she studies the flower

this could me more interesting if she blew the dandelion.

I think this is a great interpretation of the challenge. Perhaps just a little bit more of her face in the frame?
