RICOH GR III       1st place, 181 points
1/100s, f11, ISO 200, 28mm, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: Decreased highlights and decreased shadows       Extra Info: This type of railroad junction is called a frog for reasons that aren't well documented, but possibly due to the resemblance to the splayed out legs of the amphibian when flattened out.

A really good shot. Richly luxurious in tone, I just wish there was something you could do with the blown sun which washes so much detail out of the shot and pulls my eye from the rail lines. Congrats on another top finish!

Well shot. Great choice of lighting. The explanation of the name agrees with what I was told when I was working with our major railroads. However, you missed the suggestion that they are held in place with ribbets. :-)))

Beautiful shot! I love the sunrays and the way they burnish the tracks. High fave.

Very striking shot. The rays from the sun are a wonderful addition to an already captivating shot. Excellent detail.

Interesting subject, well shot -- especially like the reflections off the rails and ties. The sunburst is well captured, too, though it draws attention away from the frog.

This is a wonderful shot. Everything is working: symmetry, sunrays, light.
Maybe the name is because it has first been designed by a french person :) ?

I like the light rails but wish the sun was not so prominent and so blown though it does provide a focal point which this image needs and the strength of the switch gives the shot all its power. The blown sun really hurts an otherwise powerful shot.

Love the sun's rays and the lead-in lines of the tracks.

I had never heard of that term but we don't have too many train tracks where I live. Obviously the lighting makes all the difference in this shot. Good find, did you happen to come across this or was it planned and you waited for the right moment?

I'm learning all about railway junctions in this challenge :-). Love the composition with the sun highlighting and colouring the rails.
