Under Construction       ©2022 Maike13
Sony DSC-RX100M7       4th place, 106 points
1/14s, f10, ISO 2000, 24mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: Cropped. Adjusted Brightness, Contrast Exposure and Hues. Cloned out some distracting background. Sharpened and Downsized.       Extra Info: Our younger Grandson is currently building a clock from this clock building kit. It will actually work when completed (assuming no construction errors). I was hoping to submit a shot of the completed clock, but he's been so busy with other Summer activities that progress has been slow. He's completed the first six steps (out of twenty), resulting in these six gear sub-assemblies. So a ways to go yet :-).

No pressure, right :-). He's of on a one week camping trip with the Boy Scouts, so it may be a while.

Congrats Maike13. Tell your grandson we are all waiting for him to finish the clock!

Thanks for all the comments. I shot this on our glass coffee table with a sheet of black paper under the glass. I ended up with a shadow (Lo) and Reflection (Mepo) of the gears, which was interesting. There will be a clock face and hands after it is assembled, so you really can tell the time (ysal). I'll try and remember to post a photo of the finished clock in the forums (forkcandles).

That looks like a great project! I'm glad you included the instruction manual. I love the interesting, interlocking wheels, so beautifully clear and pleasingly displayed.

I really like the intricacy of these pieces. It will be quite something to see the finished clock. You've done an excellent job of composing the pieces and using lighting to create interesting shadows and "disappear" the background.

A fascinating time piece, very well shot. The inclusion of the manual is a perfect touch. The inclusion of the reflections, coming together with the gears adds to the interest.

Interesting picture. Suits to the topic. Well composed. In my favorites.

Great shot - like how you've arranged the elements, with the wheels in an arc around the picture of the finished clock. Depth of field well-handled, too - nice work!

Great composition and really well photographed! What an interesting clock it will be when your grandson is finished. But my questions is, can you really tell what the time is :-)

Great idea, wonderfully lit and nicely sharp.
Personally, I would prefer to see the cogs without the manual, but I appreciate it gives context.

Looks like a challenging project - good luck to your grandson!
