Post-Processing: I wanted to isolate the concrete culvert from the background, but still keep the sense of place (see Extra Info). I isolated the subject and reduced the exposure of the background and foreground and added a small amount of Gaussian blur. The subject was ramped up with increased saturation and contrast.       Extra Info: The Albany, California shoreline includes a small peninsula called the 'bulb' that is the reclaimed city dump. Obviously, it is not entirely reclaimed as there are still large pieces of industrial waste around. Enterprising artists have taken advantage of that over the years, and this is one of the examples of their work. This is the place, by the way, where many of us take our dogs to run free.

Thanks very much for all of your comments, including the helpful ideas about the treatment of the surround. All much appreciated.

I was expecting to find some nice graffitis in this chalenge, and yours is certainly colourful! I understand your idea about isolating the subject, but for me, in this particular case, it could have worked even better with more extra background around, to reinforce the "abandoned" aspect of the place and to not making the framing so tight. Anyway, the PP you added to that background is fine.
Nice pic for the theme and gets a place in my T5, well done!!

Perfect for this challenge. Great colors and the right treatment for the background.
Very well done!

I like this a lot and the extra info is interesting - nice to see beauty made out of garbage. I think it is unfortunate that the pp made the pipe look lie a cutout addition but I still love the shot.

A very unusual "masterpiece" with great colour and vitality.

Very interesting piece of graffiti art.

It's hard to tell be the background the size of the old piece of pipe, but it is a very interesting example of renegade art.

Top Ten.

Like the subject and good fit for the theme. I think you have a potentially really good shot. To my eye the PP is a little intrusive because it has become too obvious. I think your PP aims are right but they probably need to be a little more subtle so that we only see it after some study. Will still be a TT candidate for me, but I think this shot could be even better. SO keep the extraordinaty clarity of the main subject (sharp as can be and detailed, but crank down the PP on the background a tocuh so that it is still background but we cannot as obviously see your hand in that.

Reminds me of the Cadillac farm in Amarillo.

Because this object is set in context, and has its own handsome qualities, this is a much more effective image.
