Stormy Morning       ©2010 Franz07
Panasonic DMC-LX3       1st place, 183 points
1/1000s, f6.3, ISO 80, 72mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: cloned out a lens flare spot, very slight rotation, minor cropping and finally downsized for the upload       Extra Info: That morning it was cold and the wind strong. I arrived a little bit late at the beach, but quite in time to see the sun rising over the clouds and illuminating the spraying water, immersing the whole scenery into this beautiful light.

My dear friends, thank you all very much for your votes and especially for all these very nice comments!
Wow, a painting... a book cover, lol... I very much hope that I did not start to become "strange" lately :-D :-D
To get such a great reward from you all is a big honor to me - especially in the "Best Of" challenge.
Thank you all very much!

And special thanks to Lee, LaRee and Rafael, who spend their free time and lots of efforts for us and keep this great site running! Thanks pals!

Congratulations. I did not manage to squeeze this fine shot in my TT. That only goes to show what a tough field it was.

Beautiful picture, exposure etc. You could also crop out a little from the bottom just below the spraying waves and have a different view that is also great. , in my top 10.

This is an outstanding shot in which everything works: the sun in the right place, the bird in the right place, the high shutter speed to stop the churning waves and the play of light on the water. It looks like a 19th century seascape painting. Very high on my list. Good luck.

In my TT. You are lucky to live somewhere where you can make so great pics! Unique! The sun, the clouds, the storm, the reflections on the water, great!

This is so real I can almost see the waves moving. The seagull just adds the final touch to a perfect shot

It is fantastic, like a painting. And the flying gull i a bonus there. My first choice. Happy New Year!

I love the light on the waves and the overall mood of this shot! The blown sun disturbs me, but not enough to keep it out of my TT :)

Each time I come back to this one I like it better. There is a great sense of motion in the water and the gull in the sky is a nice touch too. Good luck!

Really a beautiful photo. I like the bird off in the distance. I look at this and I can hear the waves in my head

The drama, lighting and subject matter make this a clear choice for my No. 3. The lone gull clinches it and makes the shot dynamic and brings home the magnificence of this part of the natural world.
