Congratulations. It's an inspiration for the abstract challenge. Deserved top vote.

Yes, this certainly would have worked well for Abstract - but 3rd place is a great finish. Congratulations.

Thanks everyone for kind comments. I had thought about not entering this and going back later to take it again for 'abstract' !

It's the stairs linking the Sackler Wing to the rest of the galleries at the Royal Academy in London - inspired by just having seen the wonderful architectural photographs of Helene Binet there.

Wonderful lighting and shapes. Good choice for B&W.

Nice. Great idea and execution. In my top 3.

Nice variation on the usual "full-circle" view of a spiral staircase. Well-composed with good tonal values. Small nit: might prefer if the bright brick wall were not cut off where it intersects the bright beam.

Great shapes. I like this from an abstract point of view (turning off the part of my brain that understands what it is).

This is a nice mix of circles and squares, with added interest from the light and shadows. Niicely done.

I really like this. The B&W treatment really brings out the shapes and textures. Great composition.

Love the absolutely perfect composition. The differing shades, textures, and transparency of the various surfaces create a compellingly fascinating shot.
