Thanks everyone for the kind words and support. I'd taken a similar picture looking up at Big Ben many years ago, but sadly that's still under scaffolding so I applied the idea elsewhere...
Check out what it really looked like:

I must have done something in this shot to reduce the blue, or maybe it's faded over time...
Maike13 - thanks!
mrsawyer: 1423 according to the EXIF!

Wow. Your two entries got both my 1st place votes. That's never happened before.

congrats on the well timed piece. my search for the clock was incorrect result and I should have realised using the framework it was hanging on.

Looks like about 2:20. Hard to tell time this way, but great idea!! Congrats on 2nd place.

Great perspective showing so many different angles and shapes.

It must be a big clock. From this angle it could almost be a table.

Striking shot, well-taken. Clearly, we're looking up here, yet something in my head keeps wanting me to see the clock as lying flat, like a giant roulette wheel.

Excellent job in capturing this shot. Both lighting and DOF had to be just right to capture all the detail on the clock and girders without blowing the highlights.

A simple shot but it works very well. I initially thought that the crop should be closer but then realised that the windows top and bottom make the framing work. Also, the dark grey of the structure contrasts beautifully with the gilding on the clock-face. The reflection of light on the face gives the impression that the clock is lying on it's back facing up - perfect! You have taken something that is very ordinary and turned it into a most attractive shot. Kudos.

Love the composition and how sharp the markings on the clock are. The exposure used perfectly brings out the lovely contrast between the gold markings on the clock and the black and white of the rest of the image.

Well done! Great colors, shapes, and of course a different perspective.

forkcandles - it's not Derby! The "De" you can see is part of the manufacturer's name, Dent.
It is at St. Pancras station in London, and featured in my 'time' entry:

I'm going to use "I'll meet you under the clock" as the title from now on - thanks!
