This is one of those creative shots where you say "I wish I'd taken that!" Congratulations.

A think Jade's comment about Japenese frugality captures what I saw in this. Well done.

I am a bit stunned by all of the positive comments about this little piece, but nevertheless grateful and honored to be among some truly great photographers who show up here and put themselves on the line time after time.

this so on theme with the challenge and tf the warmth of the sun can be felt in the picture and getting the dark background to highlight the branches.

Almost Japanese in its frugality, this shot more than any other in both challenges, intrigues me. I can only go with my senses since I cannot analyze this but I sense it is on the border of extraordinary or exquisite but just a tad short -- or not! Maybe it is so sublime it is extraordinary. I cannot be sure of anything other than it will clearly end up in my TF.

great job catching the fuzz on the branches. i can see what you've done and it almost looks like a 'plug in' effect. nice job. high in my favs. el

I had better answer this before I forget. It's all about the angle of the sun. It was relatively high and a building (house) blocked the light at a lower angle. I made sure that the building was in the background in order to get the dark effect. And yes, I did reduce the exposure value in PP to increase that effect.

I am trying to figure out how this was backlit and yet there is no light behind the subject? No post processing? How can it be backlit? Hmmm...still an image that stands out and pleases me so it's in my favorites.
